Truthfully, this should be done with gels (so it lasts longer!), but here's how to DIY the #shatteredglass look at home. Grab the cellophane! #manicure #NOTD #hudabeauty

Shattered glass nails 4.0 There doesn't seem to be consensus on what this stuff is called; iridescent cellophane/film/wrap/tissue. But call it what you will, this stuff is magic! Better than 🦄🌈 unicorn pee! I started by cutting 10 ovals the size and shape of my nails. Then, I cut the ovals into 🍕 wedges. Some pieces won't be used so that the shattered nail will have some empty space between the wedges. I keep the pieces together by assembling them back together, like a pizza. I dare you not to get distracted by the 💎 shiny pizzas. Now for the nails 💅. I used gel polish for this mani. If you don't have gel polish, stay tuned, as I use a different technique for my metallic jewel nails, tutorial coming soon. I painted a bright 💙 indigo as the background for the cellophane. After curing the indigo, I painted a thin coat of clear gel on one nail. Using a tiny angled tweezer, I placed the shards on the wet gel polish, careful to leave some space between the shards. The beauty of working with gel is that you can move the pieces around for the best fit. When the pieces are where I want them, I cure the gel. Repeat on all nails. Then, I give each nail several repeats of polish and cure to seal all the shards in. It's a bore to have to do 3 or 4 more, but the more layers I paint, the more ✨ brilliantly the iridescence will shine, and the longer the mani will last. If you think these are fun in bright sunshine, you're in for a treat when it gets dark. They're so prismatic, ✨ flashing up in the least bit of light. 😍 Yaas!
